Are you bothered by unwanted phone calls or emails, but have no idea how to block them? No problem! In this blog we will explain it to you in detail. If you block a phone number or contact, the callers can still leave a message on your voicemail , but you will no longer receive notifications. The contact themselves will also not receive a notification that the call or message has been blocked. For both iPhone and iPad , Apple gives you the option to block phone numbers, contacts and emails on your device. You can even filter iMessages from unknown senders and report iMessages that look like spam.
According to Apple's support team, these are the ways you can block phone numbers, contacts and emails:
- Phone: When you open the 'Phone' app and look at the 'Recents' tab, click the information icon next to the phone number or contact you want to block. Then scroll to the bottom of the screen and click 'Block this caller.'
- FaceTime: FaceTime is even easier. You can see all the conversations right away. Then click the information icon next to a phone number, contact or email address you want to block. Then scroll to the bottom of the screen again and tap 'Block this caller.'
- Messages: If you want to block someone from 'Messages' you first have to open the conversation, then tap the contact name at the top of the conversation and then tap the information icon. Then tap the information icon again and at the bottom you can then block the contact again by tapping 'Block this caller'. You can also simply block the conversation .
- Email: Open your email, then click on the email with the contact you want to block and then click on the sender at the top. A pop-up about the sender should open automatically and then click on 'Block this contact' to block. When you block an email address in 'Mail', it goes straight to the trash. Blocking an email address applies to all Apple devices.
How to manage blocked phone numbers, contacts and emails?
Adjust blocked contacts? You can do this easily via settings, we have already made a list for how you can find this:
- Phone: Go to Settings > Phone. Tap Blocked Contacts to see the list.
- FaceTime: Go to 'Settings' > 'FaceTime'. Click 'Blocked Contacts' to see the list.
- Messages: Go to 'Settings' > 'Messages'. In 'SMS / MMS', click on 'Blocked Contacts' to see the list.
- Mail: Go to Settings > Mail. Under Message Threads, tap Blocked to see the list.
In these menus you can also add or remove blocked phone numbers, contacts or email addresses. At the bottom you will see 'Add' and then you can block the desired contact from your contact list. If you want to unblock a phone number, contact or email address, swipe left over the item and tap 'Unblock'.
Hopefully this blog was clear and you can continue calmly without being interrupted. There are few things more annoying than being interrupted by unwanted contacts.
