We've talked about it before; the new iOS 14 has a number of new features in the update. One of them is ' tapping the back '. The one part of your iPhone that has always been a bit unused, is the back of your iPhone . But not anymore! The new update ensures that by tapping the back of your iPhone a certain command is executed.
A hidden button?!
Yes yes, with that your iPhone has a new extra button that is 'hidden'! You can set in advance which command you can perform with it. If you often take photos, you can set it to open your camera immediately when you tap the back twice. Or by tapping the back three times you take a screenshot . There are many options possible. This function only works on devices with Face ID . And not entirely unimportant: It also works when there is a cover around it!
Here's how to set it up:
- Go to your Settings app
- Go to 'Accessibility'
- Go to 'Touch' and then 'Tap on back'
- Select 'Double tap' or 'Triple tap'
- Select the command you want to execute there
You can also come up with an assignment yourself that is not in this list. You do this by following these steps:
- Go to the 'Assignments' app
- Press the plus sign at the top right
- Then click on 'Add task'
- Search here for example for 'Flashlight'
- Click 'Next' and give the assignment a name
- Press 'Done'
Now follow the first 4 steps again (Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Tap Back > Double tap / Triple tap) and scroll all the way down to 'Voice commands'. Thadaah! There you will find your newly created command!
Handy, huh?!
